I’ve designed the box mounting to be attached to a waist pivot so that the Droid can shift its weight from front to back – this is not otherwise possible due to the leg design which always keeps the knees and hips parallel to the ground looking from the front:
This pivot point is driven by a motor along a geared track:
Mounted on the tilting part of the mechanism is the box itself. I decided to make a custom printed frame so that I can build in electronics mounts and custom panels etc. I had to ensure that the box was wide enough to allow the legs to split in the future:
